ABOUT HELLY HANSENNorwegian company Helly Hansen is a global leader in action and utility wear for survival, work and outdoor sports. The name comes from Sea Captain Helly Hansen who, after twenty years at sea in 1877, decided that proper sea-worthy clothing was a must. He produced his first oilskin waterproof jacket and the Helly Hansen Company was born.
A decade later Helly Hansen received the Award for Excellence at the Paris Expo, which opened up worldwide distribution to the company. In 1924 Helly Hansen used then-advanced Linox fabric in their functional outdoor clothing, and in the 1970’s their off-shore survival suits were saving lives at sea and receiving worldwide appraisal and designs awards.
Helly Hansen were also the first to use the three-layer system, and also developed the fiberpile thermal layer, the forefather of fleece as we now know it. Today Helly Hansen clothing is used around the world by outdoor professionals and enthusiasts, athletes, workers and explorers; out at sea, on the world’s highest mountains and in the coldest Arctic regions; for work and play. HH still have their roots firmly set in work, survival and sport.
Helly Hanson continue to push the boundaries, working and playing the harshest conditions on the planet. The Helly Hansen range spans from leisure wear and running trainers to base-layers and waterproof jackets.
